Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities
The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences was founded in 1909 in the tradition of the scientific academy established by Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria, in 1763 and has remained true to the idea of bringing together the top researchers in the state for interdisciplinary discussion and collaborative basic research ever since. As Baden-Württemberg’s state academy of sciences and humanities, it is a learned society and modern non-university research institution, like all of the eight state academies in Germany. It holds academic conferences and public lecture series and supports young researchers.
