Prof. Matthias Thommes, Head of Institute of Separation Science and Technology at FAU has been distinguished for his outstanding contributions to the fundamentals of adsorption and the characterization of porous materials by the Separation Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The Plaque of Honor was awarded to him during a dedicated Honorary Session at the AIChE Annual Meeting 2024 on October 28th in San Diego, California, USA.
