New round in Emerging Talents Initiative: apply now!

The aim of the Emerging Talents Initiative (ETI) is to support young researchers at FAU. With the programme, FAU encourages excellent young researchers to venture into independent research and make a name for themselves in their field.

Deadline for applications 11 September

A new round of applications for the young researchers’ programme Emerging Talents Initiative (ETI) has begun – the deadline is 11 September 2019. The programme specifically targets excellent young researchers at FAU with the aim of enabling them to submit an application to an external funding provider within the funding period (12 months). The maximum amount of funding that may be awarded is 15,000 euros. Within this budget, postdoctoral researchers may apply for any measures required to prepare their application for third-party funding, such as staff costs, consumables or travel expenses. In addition, all recipients of funding are offered supporting measures such as courses by the Graduate Centre (for example on third-party applications), a network of young researchers and mentoring by an FAU professor experienced in submitting external applications.

Funding of up to 15,000 euros

The programme is aimed at postdoctoral researchers at the beginning of their career whose experience and research profile to date make them particularly suited to a career in research. Emerging talents can apply up to six years after completing their doctoral degree, and must have not yet completed a habilitation (postdoctoral teaching qualification), or an intermediary evaluation as part of a junior professorship. They must work at FAU while receiving ETI funding. We particularly welcome applications from women and from researchers who plan to submit an application to an external funding provider for the first time. Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine are not eligible to apply, as the Faculty offers its own comparable programmes (e.g. ELAN/IZKF – first-time applicant programme).
